Amelia Sonnekus

I am a neurodivergent visual artist and illustrator living in Western Australia, mum to four boys, an elderly cat, some scruffy looking chickens and two spoilt, narrow dogs. I studied, worked and lectured in advertising and graphic design, but have always been drawn to illustration and visual art.

My whimsical, naïve illustrations are vibrant, bursting with colour, but can also shift to something gentle and understated if needed. Though I enjoy using various mediums in my studio tucked among the trees, you’ll mostly find me with my iPad in hand - drawing and creating wherever I go. This fusion between physical and digital art has become characteristic of my illustrations.  

I value open communication, collaboration, and meeting strict deadlines, but what truly brings my clients' stories to life is my intuitive approach and the deep personal connection I form with their narratives.
